Harold Wood Primary School is a community school in the Havering local authority. Our admissions policy is set by the authority. The majority of our pupils come from Harold Wood and Harold Park, but a good number are from Emerson Park, with Harold Hill, Gooshays and Heaton, and areas further afield also contributing.
Each year we can admit 45 pupils to our Reception Class (children aged 4 in September). Our school welcomes new children throughout the year, as vacancies arise. Please contact the school on 01708 345 473, or Havering Council's Pupil Services on 01708 434283, for advice and guidance regarding the admissions process.
Pre-school provision, for children who turn three during the school year, is provided by Buddies Pre-School (phone 07708 629 841, Ofsted report).
Below are some key facts about Harold Wood Primary School. But nothing beats coming to see for yourself. For a look around our school and a chat with the Head Teacher, please phone us on 01708 345 473 with any questions, or to make an appointment.

The transition to secondary school is a big step in a young person's life. Our pupils move on to a wide range of secondary schools and settle in well, wherever they go. Informal comments from secondary Head Teachers compliment our school on the good behaviour and maturity of our pupils.
Popular destination schools for our pupils are Redden Court and Emerson Park. Redden Court is a short walk from our school and Emerson Park is easily reached by bus. Both schools are in Havering. Havering LEA prints a Changing Schools guide each year. The most recent version can be accessed from the Havering Schools Information page.
Schools in Essex are also popular, with Brentwood County High School historically taking a handful of our pupils. This school is now a specialist school and selects 10% of its pupils on aptitude in ICT. A number of Essex schools operate a similar admissions policy in various specialisms. Essex also has a number of Grammar Schools selecting on 11+ results. The 11+ test is administered by the Consortium of Selective Schools in Essex and is usually sat towards the end of November, of the year prior to admission.
An interesting option for children of an international background is the Anglo European School in Ingatestone. This school does not fill up from its local catchment area and, therefore, invites applications from families that can demonstrate a strong international (not necessarily European) connection. Children come from far and wide, and the school is heavily oversubscribed. Harold Wood Primary sent two children there in 2005 and they are doing very well.
Essex LEA also produces a booklet, which can be downloaded from its Admissions to Schools page.
